As a Post - Accreditation Quality Sustenance Measure , the Institution has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Since quality enhancement is a continuous process , the IQAC is now a part of our institution's system and is working towards realizing the goals of Quality Enhancement & Quality Sustenance.

The Functions of the IQAC
Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:
1. |
Development and application of quality benchmarks/ Parameters in various activities of the institution.
|
2. |
Dissemination of information on quality aspects. |
3. |
Organisations of discussions, workshops and promotions of quality circles.
|
4. |
Recording and monitoring quality measures of the institutions. |
5. |
Acting as nodal agency of the Institution for quality related activities. |
6. |
Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report and such other reports as may be decided from time to time.

The IQAC committee has submitted the first Annual Quality Assurance Report(AQAR) for the Academic Year 2005-2006 to the NAAC in the month of July'2006.
Subsequently in 2007-2008 also reports are submitted.
IQAC Report
With the establishment of NAAC in 1994 'Assessment Culture' has taken a concrete shape in India. The vision of NAAC is to make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance initiatives.

- We recognize the need to build the institutional image and attract more students.
1.Evidence of Success:
The concerted efforts of the staff under the stewardship of the principal resulted in successfully rectifying most of the deficiencies and in preparing the institution for a take-off. The institution is now geared up to provide the right kind of academic ambience.
1. College attained autonomous status for the UG section from the academic year
2007 - 08.
- Teachers have learnt to exercise autonomy in matters of restructuring and upgrading of courses,
-Teachers are now devising new methods of Teaching and learning
-Changes are made in matters of admission and evaluation.
2. The institution realizes that students are the prime stake holders of performance of the
College and that their involvement in all the activities of the college will enhance the
Quality performance.
- We ensure that students participate in all activities as members in all working committees.
- Students feed back is taken and follow up action is initiated.
-Former students involve actively in the off college activities though the alumni association
- Students are involved in community service though NSS
- Students participate enthusiastically in various clubs- Consumer Club, Eco club, cultural club, Literary club
- Identifying advanced learners and imparting special coaching
- Remedial classes - Identifying academically weak students and conducting special classes.
- Providing computer training to all the students
- Conducting certificate courses of 45 days duration
- Add - on courses in communication skills and corporate recruitment training
-Placements through Campus recruitment
- Conducting classes on personality development and confidence building.

Research projects – Institution believes that quality teaching depends on research and that research is essential for all teachers.

State Best Teacher Awards - 2006, 2007,2008 continuously for three years the College received the State Best Teacher Award.
Rajiv Vidya Vikas Award - The institution received this award for the last 3 years.

To give a better exposure to new areas of knowledge students and teachers are encouraged to attend and organize seminars / workshops etc.
Notional Seminars - the departments of Physics, Commerce and Botany have organized national seminars
State level seminars - the department of Economics, Zoology have organized state level seminars.
Annual Seminars - all the departments annually organize inter-collegiate seminars.
- Teachers are encouraged to publish papers in renowned national and international conference volumes and journals.
- Teachers are encouraged to extend their services to other institutions by visiting them as Resource Persons.
4. Infrastructure
-Library is renovated with the UGC grant and automation is in progress
-Laboratories are well equipped with necessary equipment & material
-Sports equipment purchased with a grant given by the Minister of Sports- Andhra Pradesh Government.
-Commerce Lab and Computer Lab are upgraded and new systems are procured.
5. Maintaining Cultural heritage and ethos
With the cultural pluralities and diversities, it is essential that students imbibe, appropriate values keeping social, cultural, economic realities at the local, national and universal level.
To inculcate a value system among the students the institution organizes the following:
-Durgabai parichay - An introduction to Dr.Durgabai Deshmukh, the founder of the institutions- AMS.
- Gandhi Satabdi Bhavan Meetings - every 2nd Friday meetings are conducted at Gandhi Bhavan, situated on campus - The topics are generally on Gandhian Studies
-Maintaining cultural heritage the college celebrates the birth & death anniversaries of popular freedom fighters, renowned poets and scholars.
6. Vocational Skills/ Livelihood skills
In tune with the objective of the founder Dr Smt Dragabai Deshmukh that AMS should provide instruction and training to women for harnessing their services in building our nation, the college established a center for Livelihood Skills and an EDP cell. The Center recognizes the need for innovative, creative and entrepreneurial approach to skill development among students.
7. Women Cell
Women Cell is set up to take up activities to build confidence and enable girls to work towards empowerment including violence against women and people’s rights.
- Lectures are organized on violence against women, legal rights of women etc.
- Rallies are conducted to bring about awareness about dowry prohibition Act.
- A 45 days course on women's legal rights is conducted.
- To extend a helping hand to students in distress, a psychological counseling cell ' Atmeeya’ and a legal counseling cell ' Ashraya’ are set up.
8. IQAC
IQAC formed subsequent to the visit of NAAC peer team in 2005 works out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance the quality. The committee meets regularly and charts out programs and reviews the progress. The Action plan is prepared, the parameters, and benchmarks are identified.
Teachers are organized on quality aspects.
The IQAC has already submitted 3 Annual quality assurance reports (AQAC) so far.
Then while restating the vision and mission of the institution, the college dedicates itself to the cause of women’s upliftment, the goal set by its founder Padma Vibushan Dr. Smt. Durgabai Deshmukh.

THE CONTEXT
Andhra Mahila Sabha established in 1938 by the doyen of social reforms, Padma Vibhushan Dr. (Smt) Durgabai Deshmukh is an organization dedicated to the cause of women empowerment. Durgabai Deshmukh gave a purposeful thrust to social service in
India
, particularly in the field of women's welfare.
THE PRACTICE
The NSS Units organized
- Youth Leadership Training Programme for 200 Volunteers of Hyderabad district.
- Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme.
- College Talk on AIDS Awareness Programmes.
The activities taken up in the adopted Torrur Village of Hayathnagar Mandal.

- Planted 1500 saples in the village during the special camp programmes.

- Admitted school dropouts in the govt. schools.

- Conducted awareness programmes on HIV / AIDS.
|

- Organised Blood donation camps.

EVIDENCE OF SUCCESS
Following the path laid by our founder President, Dr.Durgabai Deshmukh “The Legend of Social Service”, the NSS Units of our college have rendered relentless service to the community which is well recognized by the government at both State and National level. The NSS unit of our institution got the Best unit Award for the outstanding performance in community service for the year 2004-05. The programme officer Dr. CP Vardhani who inspired the students being herself inspired by the doyen of social service, Durgabai Deshmukh , won the “Indira Gandhi National Award” as the Best programme officer for the year 2004-05. She is the only woman candidate in the entire country to have received this honour.
