MOMENTUM
– 2005
The
Department of Physics had organised a one
day seminar “ MOMENTUM – 2005”
on the “Recent Challenges in Physics”
on 07.11.2005. Smt. A. Sitamahalakshmi,
Principal had welcomed and introduced the
guests. Dr. Srihari Rao, Director, DLRL,
Hyderabad was the Chief Guest and delivered
the key-note address, and Prof. C. Lakshma,
Chairman, Governing Body of the College,
presided Prof. S. Ramana Murthy, Head, Dept.
of Physics, Osmania University was the Guest
of Honour. Prof. S. P. Tiwari, School of
Physics, University of Hyderabad, Dr. P.V.N.
Rao, Scientist, F, NRSA, Hyderabad, Prof.
C. Nageswara Rao, Department of Physics,
Osmania University were the speakers in
the Technical Sessions.
The topics covered are “Lasers, Nano
Physics and Ultra Cold Physics, “Remote
Sensing” and ‘Radiation and
Man’. In all 92 students and 35 teachers
of different colleges in the twin cities
and other places took part in the seminar,
besides the students and staff of our college,
one retired superintending Engineer in M.C.H.,
another retired officer Sri. SriHari Rao
from HAL also participated in it.
Dr. R. Dass, Technical Director, RCI was
the Chief Guest in the Valedictory function,
and Prof. D.V.R. Vithal, Member, Governing
Body of the College presided. Dr. C.P.Vardhani
gave vote of thanks.
AALOKAN
The faculty of Social Sciences conducted
a one-day seminar on the “Right to
Information Act” on 18-11-2005. Justice
B.P.Jeevan Reddy, Retd. Judge, Supreme Court
and former Chairman of the Governing Body
of the College was the Chief Guest and Prof.
C.Lakshmana presided. Justice B.P.Jeevan
Reddy gave the keynote address on the Right
to Information Act – The legalities.
Prof. P.L.Vishweshwar Rao, Professor of
Journalism, Osmania University, Director,
Educational Multimedia Research Centre,
Osmania University and Sri Rajasekhar, Chief
News Editor, TV-9 spoke on the “Right
to Information Act-some issues” and
the Right of Information Act – Role
of Media, 213 (students and Staff together)
had registered from 14 different colleges.
Besides, a few members from NGOs like “Anveshi”
and members of the Executive Body of TACTA
also attended the seminar. Prof. Subba Rao
Ghanta, State Chief Information Officer,
Government of Andhra Pradesh, was the Chief
Guest in the Valedictory function, which
was presided by Prof. Y.Saraswathi Rao,
former Vice-Chancellor, Sri Krishnadevaraya
University and member of the Governing Body
of the College. At the end Smt. Sheila Ramani
David Head, Dept. of Public Administration
read out the report of the seminar, and
Kum. Madhuri Smitha, lecturer in Economics
proposed vote of thanks.

SRUJANA
The Department of Telugu had conducted a
two-day workshop for the students and faculty
of the Degree Colleges in the twin cities
on 20th and 21st of November 2005 on “Patrika
Rachana” writing for Media.
The workshop started with the welcoming
of the Chief Guest and others by Smt. A.Sitamahalakshmi,
Principal of the College. Sri Devulapalli
Amar, Chairman, Press Academy was the Chief
Guest and Prof. C.Lakshmana, Chairman, Governing
Body of the College presided.
In the first session on 20-11-2005 Prof.
Sumathi Narendra, Head, Department of Telugu,
Osmania University spoke on “News
Writing” and Sri A.Sudhakar, Chief
Editor, Vijay Radham monthly magazine.
The
afternoon session had Dr. G.Chakradhar,
Principal, Rachana, College of Journalism
and Sri R.B.V.Rama Rao, Senior Journalist,
who spoke on the “Methods of Collecting
Information and Review”.
On
21-11-2005, Smt. P.Bhargavi Rao, Popular
Translation Writer and Dr. G.S.Prasada Reddy
of Theatre Arts, Nizam College spoke on
“Translation” while Sri Ashok
T., Editor, Vartha (Daily) spoke on News
Writing.
This
session was followed by Prof. Kasireddy
Venkata Reddy, Professor, Osmania University
and Sri Bala Srinivasa Murthy, Lecturer,
Sardar Patel College, Secunderabad. Who
lectured on “Writing for Papers –
Language”.
All
the participants were asked to write a review
of a story that appeared in one of the news
papers on 20-11-2005 and also prepare a
report on the proceedings of the workshop,
for which prizes were awarded for the best
few. All the prizes were sponsored by some
of the lecturers in the College.A total
of about 100 students and 12 teachers took
an active part in the workshop.
The
Valedictory Session was presided by Dr.
K.Lokender Rao, Hony. Secretary and Correspondent
of the College. Sri M.V.R.Sastri, Editor,
Andhra Bhoomi was the Chief Guest. Smt P.Kalyana
Sarada read out the Report of the two-day
workshop and rendered vote of Thanks.

NSS
Indira Gandhi National Award for Dr. C.P.Vardhani
as the Best NSS Prgramme Officer for 2004-2005
Dr. C.P.Vardhani, Lecturer, and NSS Programme
Officer in the College was given the Indira
Gandhi National Award as the Best NSS Programme
Officer for the year 2004-2005, and the
College received award as the Best NSS unit
for 2004-2005. The award was given by Sri
Prithviray Chavan, Minister of State for
Youth Affairs and Sports in New Delhi on
24-09-2005.
Dr. C.P.Vardhani was felicitated by the
College on 14-11-2005 Dr. K. Lakshmi Narayana,
IAS, Director, Collegiate Education, Government
of Andhra Pradesh, was the chief guest,
Dr. K. Venkata Chalam, NSS Co-ordinator,
Osmania University was the guest of honour,
Prof. C.Lakshmanna, Chairman, Governing
Body of the College, Presided.
The management of the College felicitated
Dr. Vardhani with a memento, shawl and a
Bouquet. The staff had presented a watch.
A large number of members of teaching staff,
office-superintendent, NSS Programme Officers
of various Colleges in Twin cities, Miryalaguda
and others hononured Dr. C.P.Vardhani with
mementos and bouquets.
