Arts & Science College for Women, Andhra
Mahila Sabha was inaugrated on 14th July
1968, by Sri Morajaji Desai, the Deputy
Prime Minister of India. For last 45 Years
it effectively served the field of Higher
Education for women and made its own in
it.
Dr.Durga Bai Deskmukh , the founder President
of the college managed this institution
for more than a decade in tune with her
ideals and principles and worked for the
empowerment of women. Later, her successors
too cherished the valuable ideals of their
leader and followed her footsteps and worked
up to her expectations. The college is fortunate
enough to have eminent personalities like
Justice Gangadhar Rao, Justice Jeevan reddy,
Sri V.P.Rama Rao, Prof. Vanaja Iyengar as
the Chair persons of the Governing Body,
Prof.C.Lakshmanna ,former Special Representative
of the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh at Delhi,
is the Chairman of the Governing body of
the college at present.
This college is well known for producing
qualitative and quantitative results,for
imposial discipline and for imparting value
added education. Keeping in view the changing
trends and values, the college has taken
up a number of programmes and projects for
the benefit of the students. Apart from
teaching the regular curriculum and preparing
the students for the examinations, this
college is trying best for the overall development
of the students making them competent and
confident individuals, useful to the society.
To fulfil this aim the co-curricular and
extra-curricular activities,taken up by
this college are note worthy.
